A Partnership Dedicated to Keeping the Community Informed on All Aspects of the Napa Railroad Relocation Project





This three year-plus project consists of these major construction phases

Raise 3300 linear feet of railroad track

·         Track raised between two and five feet in elevation

·         New higher track approximately 35 feet east of existing track

·         Track raised from South Soscol Avenue crossing to Napa Street

Raise North Soscol Avenue rail crossing

·            Three feet higher in elevation

·         Partial lane closures, no complete street closure, one lane maintained in each direction

          -   February 1st through February 26th 2010

          -   April 14th through May 4th 2010

          -   June 1st through November 8th 2010

          -   April 27th through June 1st 2011

·         Reconstruction of streets, sidewalks, ramps and driveways

·         Napa Street converted to Cul De Sac

Realign South Soscol Rail Crossing

      ·         New rail placed at adjacent alignment

      ·         Intermittent lane closures throughout the project duration

      ·         One lane in each direction maintained during lane closures

      ·         Lane closure schedule:

                -   August 24th through September 16th 2010

                -   December 27th through December 30th 2010

                -   February 25th through March 3rd 2011


Current South Soscol rail crossing



Raise First Street rail crossing

·         Five feet higher in elevation

·         Partial lane closures (road open to EB traffic only)

          -   March 1st through March 12th 2010

          -   March 14th through April 8th 2011

·         Complete street closure between Soscol Avenue and McKinstry Street

          -   March 15th through July 31st 2010

          -   February 28th through March 12th 2011

Raise Third Street rail crossing

·         Partial lane closures (Road open to EB traffic only)

          -   April 25th through May 6th 2011

·         Complete street closure between Soscol Avenue and Burnell Street

          -   August 16th through December 15th 2010

          -   January 10th through January 21st 2011

          -   April 11th through April 22nd 2011

·         Lawrence Street will become northbound only permanently

·         Reconstruction of streets, sidewalks, ramps and driveways

Build new Oxbow bypass railroad bridge

·         Parallels Soscol Avenue and McKinstry St.

·         Between Napa Valley Wine Train station and First Street

·         Eliminates the railroad bridge as a flood obstruction
